August 2024 - 15 Year Anniversary

The Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society (STLS) recently celebrated an important milestone—15 years of making a difference. This anniversary brought together founding members, and many of their dedicated ladies who have played a vital role in the society’s journey. During the celebration, founders Tina Roth, Debra Mahler, and Edith Nunley joyfully cut the cake, symbolizing their unwavering commitment to the mission of STLS.

A Rich History

Established in August 2009, the STLS was born from the vision of nine women who recognized the need for a supportive community focused on the empowerment of women. Their goal was to create a space where women could uplift each other and facilitate personal and educational growth. With a strong purpose of providing scholarships, these women aimed to change lives for many youth in their area.

Today, the society has grown dramatically from nine founding members to an impressive 170. This growth signifies not just the success of the society but also its deep impact on the community. The diverse backgrounds and experiences of the members enhance the society’s strength, creating a great network for encouragement and support.

Milestones of Achievement

Since its inception, the Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society has awarded over $330,000 in scholarships to 110 graduating seniors. These scholarships are granted to students who display academic excellence, leadership skills, and a genuine commitment to their education. The selection process is meticulous, ensuring that funds are disbursed to deserving candidates.

Many scholarship recipients have shared their transformational experiences. For instance, one graduate stated that the STLS scholarship enabled her to pursue a college degree in nursing, a dream that once seemed unattainable. Other recipients have used their funding to excel in STEM fields, where women are often underrepresented. These personal stories highlight the profound impact of STLS on individual lives and the community.

A Celebration of Community

The recent anniversary celebration allowed members to reflect on their achievements. Sharing personal stories and networking formed the heart of this joyous event.

The cake-cutting ceremony stood out as a moment of unity. It was filled with applause and laughter, as everyone celebrated STLS’s accomplishments while looking forward to future opportunities.

Celebrating a Bright Future

As the Southern Tennessee Ladies' Society marks 15 years, it is a celebration of collective effort and dedication that has led to positive change. This event underscores the importance of community support and collaboration, showing that together, remarkable achievements are possible.

With a current membership of 170 women and a supportive community behind them, the STLS is set for continued success. Their journey is a testament to collaboration, and motivation. The society’s vision for the future is inspiring—they are ready to nurture the next generation of leaders and continue uplifting their community.

Looking to the future, STLS would like to further expand scholarship opportunities to reach more students in need.

The Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society looks forward to celebrating more accomplishments in the coming years, proving that through unity, they can achieve extraordinary results.
